Fire disrupting events are frequent in the mediterranean area, a phenomenon which deserves attention in relation to human threats and climate change.
The Sentinel-2 constellation by the European Space Agency (ESA) provides multispectral images with revisit time of 5 days.
The evolution of the fires expansion on three sadly known hot-spots of 2023 summer Rhodes, Corfu (Greece) and Palermo (Italy) has been tracked (method presented here DOI: 10.1109/TGRS.2023.3301056).
The results illustrated in the three maps below are self explanatory, giving evidence of the dramatic nature of this’ year fires.
