RSDE unit is a partner of STRATUS (SaTellite Radar sounder for eArTh sUb-surface Sensing), a new satellite mission concept based on a radar sounder for Earth Observation, coordinated by RSLab group. STRATUS aims at studying for the first time from satellite the subsurface of the Earth. STRATUS main goals are the 3D monitoring at global scale of both icy areas (including Antartica, Artic and large glaciers) and desert areas. The project, funded by the Italian Space Agency, aims at studying and further developing the mission concept and the radar payload.

Phase B2/C of JUICE-RIME has been funded.
RSDE unit and RSLab group are the Principal Investigator (Prime contractor) of a project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) on the analysis of multitemporal images acquired by the ESA Sentinel 2 satellite constellation.
The project aims at defining the scientific methods and the related prototype algorithms for addressing three main challenges with the multispectral and multiresolution Sentinel 2 images:
1) change detection; 2) analysis of image time series; and 3) updating of land-cover maps.
The CRYOMON-SciPro Interregional Project Network (IPN) on cryosphere science has been funded.
Francesca Bovolo has been nominated Associate Editor of Journal of Applied Remote Sensing (JARS). JARS is a publication of the SPIE international society for optics and photonics.

RSDE unit is involved in the Internationl Summer School for PhD students on “Data Fusion for Risk Mapping” that will be held on July 23-24 in Pavia, Italy. Dr. Bovolo will give a lecture on “Earth Observation Data Fusion for Natural Risk Management”.
The school is organized by the prestigious IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.
The SPIE Conference on the Image and Signal Processing for Remote Sensing (SPIE 2015) will be held in the period September 21-24, 2015 in Toulouse (France).
The main goal of this conference is to address advanced topics related to signal processing, image analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning and data fusion methodologies in the field of remote sensing.
The IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing 2015 (IGARSS 2015) will be held in the period July 26-31, 2015 in Milano (Italy).
This is the most important international symposium in remote sensing. More than 2000 scientists are expected to attend the Milano edition. RSLab has a leading role in the organization of the symposium.
